American Barbie Dolls
How can I teach my little daughter, that is racism wrong?
Ok, so yesterday I had my 5-year-old daughter (who knows) from the toy store to buy a new doll. When we got the course with all the dolls, I asked her what she wanted. He went straight to a white Barbie doll and said "this". This immediately made me feel uncomfortable. You obviously do not choose the African-American doll, because she is black. I took one of the African-American Barbie dolls from the self, and said, "How about this one instead?" But they refused. I ended up buying instead of Afro-American Barbie doll, whatever. You was unhappy, but I explained to her how the diversity we need to rebalance the United States after years of white oppression against African-Americans. I told her that what she did was racist and wrong. She did not understand and began to cry. Now I feel like the villain. How can my daughter to teach color blind and not judge people by race?
I know that this question was asked tongue-in-cheek, but I am anyway not answer Gar. The is right, the answer to "How can I teach my child not racist", is "do not teach you that." Racism is a learned behavior. If They do not teach them racism, then your job is done. Do not even acknowledge the concept of race out to explain that the skin comes in different colors like apples and pencils, and the child will never learn to accomplish your goal so racist. Teaching someone how not to be racist is like teaching someone not to read.
