What should I wear (shoes and clothes), while touring in Italy?

Pictures would be nice. I need to know to see what shoes to wear for not a lot of walking like a tourist with my clothes. I hear floral dresses are good .... But with what shoes? No pants? Going on a cruise in October Mediteranian and tourism in the country.
